Q. Do you do weddings?
A. Jim has done lots weddings throughout his years as a performer. Many people hire Jim as a solo to do the cocktail portion of the reception, while the JR Trio is doing more and more wedding receptions. Paul and the Maybabies are also doing more weddings every year.
We like to make it clear to anyone who is interested in us for their wedding that we pretty much play non-traditional, non-conformist wedding receptions. This means no tuxedos, no YMCA, no Electric Slide, etc… We don’t charge as much as typical over-priced wedding bands who change members every month and what you’ll get is what you’ve seen of us live. If we can learn a song or two for you we’d be glad to oblige. We can introduce the wedding party if you’d like us to and perform some of the basic functions in a more relaxed way. We are basically a rock and roll band and if that is what you want for your wedding then that is what we provide.

Q. Do you do private parties?
A. Private parties are great fun! We've done many different types of parties, including Tailgates at the Meadowlands, corporate Christmas parties and cocktail parties, keg parties, beach clubs, wing festivals, chili cook-offs, birthday parties... you get the picture. Technical requirements are spelled out in our contract such as electrical needs, spacial requirements and dry areas to set up our gear... mostly common sense stuff. Deposits are usually required 90 days before a booking. Some people like to pass a collection bucket or even collect a few dollars admittance to help share the costs among party-goers, especially at outdoor, casual events.

Q. How far in advance does it take to secure a booking?
A. The busiest times of year tend to be winter and summer, although we play constantly all year. If you’re planning an event either of these times five to six months is a good amount of notice to assure you’ll get to choose from a few available dates. We have steady venues that we play on rotation all throughout the year and we usually book these out six months in advance. Sometimes we’ll have something available a month or two ahead of time due to a cancellation or schedule change. It never hurts to ask!

Q. How much does it cost to hire Jim? The Duo? The Trio? Paul and the Maybabies?
A. Our price is affected by many different variables, including travel distance, duration of performance, day of the week, time of the year, etc… We like to play places where we can get direct compensation for a job well done. For example, if it’s a club we generally work for the door with a minimum guarantee. If it’s crowded we all benefit. If it’s a slow night we don’t do as well but still get our guarantee. It’s up to the club owner to assess the risk of whether or not we will meet our guarantee. If it’s a private engagement it’s a flat rate agreed upon in writing. Overtime is usually provided at a pro-rated cost based on the original agreement, and will be mentioned in the contract.
